Marie-Annick Lépine speaks on the death of her partner, Karl Tremblay

The Cowboys Fringants violinist reacted to the death of her partner, Karl Tremblay, who died on Wednesday. “At the moment of his departure, the sky put on its most beautiful clothes to [l’]welcome as it should be. [Karl] was extremely kind. [Il] always made sure everyone was happy around him,” she wrote on Facebook Friday afternoon, addressing him directly.

She affirms that the singer, “pillar of a family, of a group and of thousands of fans”, “found happiness much more moving than unhappiness”, even if he “needed help” for several months .


“It was an immense happiness for me […] to give you all the support, love and care necessary to keep you comfortable,” she added.

The musician concluded her message by talking about their two daughters, Simone and Pauline: “They are magnificent. Don’t worry, I’ll take care of it. »

Memorial gatherings

Mme Lépine spoke Thursday evening at a spontaneous gathering organized in honor of the singer at L’Assomption, alongside Jean-François Pauzé, another member of the group.

“Karl never refrained from shedding a tear. He was a sensitive man who allowed himself to cry when he felt like doing so. But he cried and shed tears especially in the goodness of things, in happiness, in front of happy people,” she told the crowd.

Thousands of fans gathered all over Quebec on Thursday evening, including at the foot of Mount Royal, in Montreal, and on the Plains of Abraham, in Quebec.

Marie-Annick Lépine has been a member of Cowboys Fringants since the group’s beginnings in 1996. She has released three solo albums, from 2007 to 2021.
