Marcus Semien, one of the American MVP finalists, signed a long-term contract with the Texas Rangers on Sunday.
According to several reports, Semien has put his signature at the bottom of a seven-year contract worth US $ 175 million.
Semien is coming back from a great season with the Toronto Blue Jays. He maintained a .265 batting average with 102 RBIs and hit 45 long balls to set a single-season homerun record for a second baseman.
Semien was a finalist for America’s Most Valuable Player along with teammate Vladimir Guerrero Jr. The trophy was ultimately won by Los Angeles Angels pitcher and hitter Shohei Ohtani.
After signing a one-year contract in the final offseason, Semien was moved to second pad, a place he hadn’t played regularly since 2015, with the Chicago White Sox. He has played every game for the Blue Jays.
