The University of Connecticut Huskies won the NCAA men’s basketball championship, the infamous March Madness, on Monday night.
UConn defeated the San Diego State University Aztecs 76-59 at NRG Stadium in Houston.
This is the fifth national title for the Huskies, who also won in 1999, 2004, 2011 and 2014.
This time, it was Tristan Newton who sounded the charge for the winners. The 6’5” athlete had 19 points, 10 rebounds and four assists.
He was supported by teammates Adama Sanogo and Jordan Hawkins, who had 17 and 16 points respectively. The first of these two players also had 10 rebounds.
In the Aztecs camp, Keshad Johnson scored 14 points. Darrion Trammell and Lamont Butler also did well with 13 points each. It was the San Diego State University team’s first time in the March Madness finals.
