March, François Schuiten and Sylvain Tesson

For March, the Belgian designer François Schuiten pairs up with the writer-traveler Sylvain Tesson to give us this story of an imaginary journey camped on the red planet in 2121. At the dawn of the XXIIe century, on a planet Earth redesigned by climate change and the explosion of demography, clings a “homogenized humanity” and troglodyte which survives thanks to a diet based on soybean fibers produced in the laboratory and insect proteins . The Global Mama consortium sends a 16 to the red planete mission to locate its deposits of thorium (a rare metal with greater energy virtues than uranium) and assess the potential to develop colonies there. “On Earth, man had declared the battle and won the battle,” writes in his diary one of the two “Rubinautes” of the exploration mission, who comments day by day, in a melancholy and critical manner, their business and this ultimate headlong rush of Terrans in distress.
