Marcel Desjardins back in the Alouettes’ nest

The Montreal Alouettes made numerous maneuvers within their management team on Thursday, even bringing back a familiar face to the nest.

Pier-Yves Lavergne was first named assistant general manager, who had been director of national scouting since 2022. Lavergne notably worked in the football operations of the Ottawa Rouge et Noir from 2015 to 2021, and helped the team to lift the Gray Cup in 2016.

For his part, Marcel Desjardins will be back in the nest as special assistant to the general manager and player personnel. He will support general manager Danny Maciocia and Lavergne.

Desjardins will be on his third stay with the Montreal organization, after having held various management positions between 1999 and 2006, before returning with the team as assistant to the general manager from 2008 to 2012.

As for Jean-Marc Edmé, he was named executive director of player personnel, after being appointed in January 2022 as director of professional player personnel for the Alouettes. He will work closely with all NCAA professional players.

“With our recent success, I am obviously very happy with the work of my team,” said Alouettes general manager Danny Maciocia. I am excited about the return of Marcel Desjardins to the Alouettes and Pier-Yves Lavergne and Jean-Marc Edmé are excited about the challenge ahead of them. They fully deserve this vote of confidence. »
