The interim leader of the Quebec Liberal Party (PLQ), Marc Tanguay, said he had a “constructive” and “sincere” meeting with Premier François Legault on Thursday about the economy, energy and public services in Quebec.

This tete-a-tete is part of a series of meetings between Mr. Legault and the leaders of the opposition parties. On January 11, the Prime Minister said he wanted to meet with the other political parties in order to discuss, in particular, how to “electrify Quebec”.
Earlier this week, François Legault met with the parliamentary leader of Québec solidaire Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois. He also met with the leader of the Conservative Party of Quebec (PCQ) Éric Duhaime. The latter did not elect any deputy in the elections of 3rd October last, but his political party won 12.91% by universal suffrage.
An interview with the leader of the Parti Québécois, Paul St-Pierre Plamondon, is also scheduled for next Tuesday.
Proposals “well rated” by Legault
According to the interim leader of the PLQ, the Prime Minister “took very good note” of some of his proposals. The idea of extending parental leave by six months for parents unable to find a place in child care is an example, he pointed out.

In the last election, the Liberals elected 21 MPs. But due to the exclusion of Marie-Claude Nichols from the PLQ caucus and the departure of former leader Dominique Anglade, they now have only 19 elected members in their ranks in the National Assembly.
