Winner on Wednesday at the top of the Col de La Molina, Ben O’Connor (AG2R Citroën Team) recovered the leader’s white tunic with green stripes. With ten seconds ahead of Juan Ayuso (UAE Team Emirates) and twelve over Nairo Quintana (Arkéa-Samsic), the Australian’s lead is slim before tackling the queen stage, Thursday March 24, between La Seu d’Urgell and Boí Taüll.

A finish at the top which should once again be the scene of a battle between favourites. Guillaume Martin, the first Frenchman overall is eighth and only sixteen seconds behind the leader. Richard Carapaz, Joao Almeida, Wouter Poels and Sergio Higuita among others are still on the lookout as Simon Yates was unable to keep up with his opponents on Thursday. Richie Porte is also left behind.
