Former Liberal cabinet minister Marc Garneau resigns as MP for Notre-Dame-de-Grâce—Westmount.
The Montreal elected official previously served as Minister of Transport as soon as Justin Trudeau’s government came to power in 2015.
He subsequently served as Foreign Secretary from January to October 2021, when he was demoted as a backbench MP in January 2021.
Mr. Garneau was first elected in 2008 as Member of Parliament for Westmount—Ville-Marie.
He then won victorious elections in 2015 in the new riding of Notre-Dame-de-Grâce—Westmount.
