After seeing the St. Louis Blues take the lead in this first-round series at his expense, Marc-André Fleury recovered in fine fashion by allowing the Minnesota Wild to win game number 2 by the mark of 6 to 2, Wednesday evening, at the Xcel Energy Center.
The Quebec goaltender was in net in Monday’s 4-0 loss, but Dean Evason chose to trust him again and the decision paid off. Fleury made 32 saves for his team, including several important ones as the Blues attempted a comeback.
This momentum of the visitors, who had reduced the deficit to 4-2 at the start of the third period, was stopped dead by Kirill Kaprizov, who completed a hat trick into an empty net. Joel Eriksson Ek was no slouch with a pair of goals.
Fleury was not the only representative of the Belle Province to stand out since Frédérick Gaudreau also hit the target.
With the series tied at one game each side, both teams will travel to St. Louis for the third and fourth meetings.
