Maple Leafs | Two-year contract extension for Mark Giordano

The 38-year-old Giordano will pocket an average of $800,000 per season.

Giordano has eight goals and 35 points in 75 games this season with the Seattle Kraken and Maple Leafs. With the Torontonians, he added two assists in seven playoff games.

Toronto native Giordano has 151 goals and 544 points in 1,024 career NHL games. He also wore the colors of the Calgary Flames. The guard has nine points in 30 playoff appearances.

During his 16-year NHL career, Giordano appeared in the All-Star Game three times (2015, 2016 and 2020) and won the Norris Trophy in 2018-19, an honor given to the league’s top defenseman.

Giordano also won the NHL Foundation Trophy (2015-16), given to the player who applies the core values ​​of hockey — commitment, perseverance, and teamwork — to enrich the lives of people in his community. He also won the Mark Messier trophy, awarded to the best leader, in 2019-20.

Internationally, Giordano represented Canada at the Spengler Cup in 2007 and the World Hockey Championship in 2010.
