(New York) Toronto Maple Leafs forward Wayne Simmonds was fined US $ 2,250 for a double check he hit Winnipeg Jets forward Jansen Harkins on Sunday.
The fine of $ 2,250 is the highest permitted under the collective agreement.
His teammate Jason Spezza will obviously be suspended for the knee kick he served to defenseman Neal Pionk in the Leafs’ 6-3 win.
Spezza has been called up for a face-to-face meeting, which could mean a suspension of at least six meetings. The date of his hearing has not been announced.
Pionk will have a hearing Monday for a knee-to-knee collision with Toronto defenseman Rasmus Sandin.
