(Boston) It remains possible that Auston Matthews of the Toronto Maple Leafs will take part in Saturday night’s final game against the Bruins in Boston.
After the morning skate, however, coach Sheldon Keefe seemed to suggest that would not be the case, ahead of the deciding game of this first-round series in the East.
“We’ll see how the day goes,” Keefe said. It is certain that if Auston is available, you will use him. »
Matthews has not played since Game 4 of the series.
During the second intermission that evening, he was removed from the match following medical advice. The nature of his condition has not been released.
Matthews took part in practice Saturday at TD Garden, but Keefe hinted that his forward group would remain the same.
The Maple Leafs have won 2-1 in the last two games.
Matthews led the NHL with 69 goals this season.
In 2013 and 2018, Toronto erased 3-1 series deficits against the Bruins before losing in the final game in Boston.
The Leafs or the Bruins will face the Panthers in the second round.
In the first round, Florida defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning in five games.
