The streets of Sarlat will be crowded this long weekend. The city of Périgord Noir awaits many visitors, especially to take advantage of the Journées du terroir. Over two days, this Thursday and Friday, dozens of producers set up their stands in the historic center to give a taste of local gastronomy and offer practical and fun workshops for young and old. “We were surprised by the number of visitors”, smiles Katia Veyret, the deputy director of the Sarlat tourist office, who was the guest of France Bleu Périgord this Thursday. The reservation rate exceeds 80% for this Ascension weekend.

the duck, honey, cabécou, all the gastronomic identity of Périgord is honored for two days, with practical activities all day long. For example, you can train to carve the duck or cook a nut pie. “We are on a tourist event, we have a lot of visitors who completely discover the local gastronomy and heritage”explains the deputy director.

And this good first long weekend of the season suggests a very good summer. “We are going to have a lot of foreign visitors, inhabitants of the Netherlands, English, Spaniards and even Italians” predicts Katia Veyret. The assistant manager is confident, even in the face of rising prices. “We feel that visitors want to take advantage, we do not notice the effect of inflation, of the increase in the price of fuel”, she specifies.
