Manuel Valls calls for “a start in the face of the tsunami of these anti-Semitic acts”

It is a “call for all French people to come together”, insists the former Prime Minister. If the far-right is looking for “whitewashing”, they are “helped by Jean-Luc Mélenchon”, he adds.

Manuel Valls, former Prime Minister, calls Wednesday November 8 on franceinfo, to “a mobilization, a start, an awareness of what we are experiencing” face “to the explosion, the tsunami of these anti-Semitic, Judeophobic acts”. The former Prime Minister notes in fact that “hatred of Jews, hatred of Israel is spreading in our country” and greet him“political act” by Yaël Braun-Pivet [présidente de l’Assemblée nationale] and Gérard Larcher [président du Sénat] who are calling for a march against anti-Semitism on Sunday. Manuel Valls will be “obviously” here.

He wants to mobilize because “anti-Semitism is here.” Manuel Valls thus recalls “anti-Semitic acts, swastikas drawn on doors”, the houses “reported because there are Jews”hate messages on social networks “where we shout ‘Death to the Jews'”. “It is in this country of Human Rightshe continues, but who also experienced the Dreyfus affair and Pétain’s anti-Jewish decrees. It’s in France”. For Manuel Valls, “the start must therefore be beyond all prejudices. We must be able to rise up. Each citizen must not be afraid to demonstrate against anti-Semitism, against hatred of Jews, not be afraid to gather. Everyone must take responsibility.”

Regarding the fact that the RN announced that it would participate in this march, Manuel Valls replies that it is above all “a call for all French people to come together”. He claims to know “the roots and founding ideology of the RN” but defends himself, explaining that “they are the ones who decide to come” at the Sunday march. “I am going to a demonstration at the call of the President of the Senate and the President of the National Assembly, which is an appeal to all French peoplehe repeats. Maybe they [le RN] seeks to bring about this change, this ‘whitening’. In a way, they are helped by the attitude of Jean-Luc-Mélenchon and LFI.”analyzes Manuel Valls.

JL. Mélenchon “puts a target behind all those who will demonstrate on Sunday”

Despite everything, for the former Prime Minister, “in this very serious moment”what is most important is the mobilization of as many French people as possible: “I will demonstrate with those who share my values.” Manuel Valls will not give “Never” A “passport of probity to the extreme right” and says not to ignore that “Mrs Le Pen, Mr Bardella and the RN, also demonstrate in a certain way their rejection of Muslims”. Manuel Valls therefore says he is aware of all this, but insists that “in this precise moment, so serious, it is time more than ever to express our bond, our friendship, our relationship with Judaism and our rejection of hatred. This demonstration must be powerful to go beyond all the small debates”.

Questioned about a message from Jean-Luc Mélenchon posted Tuesday on the social network X saying: “Sunday demonstration of the ‘republican arc’ of the RN at the macronie of Braun-Pivet […] Friends of unconditional support for the massacre have their meeting”Manuel Valls responds: “Every tweet, every expression on his part is more and more vile. This is particularly serious.” For the former Prime Minister, when Jean-Luc Mélenchon writes: “‘Friends of unconditional support’ not for ‘Israel’ but ‘for the massacre’, these are his words, ‘have their appointment’, he puts a target behind all those who call or who will demonstrate on Sunday. They are ‘accomplices’ in the massacre of Palestinians. It’s unbearable, it’s very serious”. Jean-Luc Mélenchon adopts “a strategy of rupture, violence, division in our country with very dangerous consequences”estimates Manuel Valls.

Manuel Valls repeats it, “Sunday, it is a demonstration of support for our compatriots who have lost loved ones in Israel. It is a support for the hostages. It is a demonstration against anti-Semitism, against hatred of Jews , against those who want to link the fate of French Jews to what is happening in Israel. This is what is unbearable and this is what Jean-Luc Mélenchon contributes to through his tweets and his hate speeches which is left the Republican field. The former Prime Minister assures him, gathering on Sunday is not supporting “the Israeli government” Or “the actions of the State of Israel even though I support the State of Israel at this time”. For Manuel Valls, “we must get out of this confusion into which Jean-Luc Mélenchon seeks to plunge us.” Manuel Valls finally hopes that apart from the march, there will be “a great tribute to our victims. There must and will be a national tribute for our compatriots killed”he concludes.
