“I don’t see the point in going back there.”, scathed the coordinator of La France insoumise (LFI) Manuel Bompard, interviewed Monday, September 18 exclusively by franceinfo about a possible future meeting with Emmanuel Macron in the fall. After their meeting on August 30 in Saint-Denis (Seine-Saint-Denis), the head of state sent a six-page letter to the leaders of the political parties. “When I see that afterwards the President of the Republic does not listen to anything, does not even allow us to discuss the subjects which are at the heart of the concerns of the French, I do not see the point of going back there”he castigated on the sidelines of the Nupes back-to-school seminar in Ivry-sur-Seine (Val-de-Marne). “I have already said that since these meetings are of absolutely no use, political party leaders are not there to be lugged from meeting to meeting”continued the MP for Bouches-du-Rhône. “Coming to a meeting, as was the case last time, to be able to put forward a certain number of proposals, when there is a difficult situation for the country like today, of course, I do it”he nevertheless added.

The opportunity also for the political coordinator of the Insoumis to return to the boycott of his party of the meeting Monday September 18 in Matignon where Elisabeth Borne brought together the leaders of the political parties to present the “ecological planning” of the government. “A new communication operation” from the government, he repeated to franceinfo.

“If the Prime Minister has proposals to make, she can make them to the National Assembly. These attempts to permanently circumvent the parliamentary debate are quite unbearable”continued Manuel Bompard. “The multiplication of meetings which aim to circumvent the debate as it is organized in institutional forms is not a good thing for the country”he judged.
