The head of the LFI list for the Europeans, Manon Aubry, guest of Demain l’Europe on franceinfo Wednesday April 3, “regret” that the left “don’t be united” for these European elections, in particular the Socialist Party which “turned his back on the Nupes program”.
“I defend the Nupes program, which allowed us to elect 151 deputies in the National Assembly”, repeated the head of the Insoumis list for the European elections. If LFI initially wanted to present a joint candidacy from the left in this election, like the 2022 legislative elections, their former socialist, environmentalist and communist allies chose to present themselves separately. “If we had been together, yes, we could achieve 28-30% and we could have won these European elections”she regretted.
However, Manon Aubry claims to have “offered all possible conditions” for a union of the left for these European elections, even going as far as “do not make the head of the list a prerequisite”. “Do you know many politicians who say, ‘I’m prepared not to be at the top of the bill to allow union’?”she lamented.
The European vote, “first round of the presidential election”
But the head of the LFI list and that of the PS-Place publique Raphaël Glucksmann affirm their desire to bring together the left after the Europeans of June 9. “I am fighting both for these European elections and for the future”assured Manon Aubry, making the European vote “the first round” of the 2027 presidential election. “This is the first and last national election between 2022 and 2027,” she recalled. “Raphaël Glucksmann said it, he is preparing for the post-Mélenchon era. What interests me is the post-Macron era”underlined the MEP, before defending the Insoumis leader who would then be running for the Élysée for a fourth time.
“I know that Raphaël Glucksmann said that we had to create a union free of the line of Jean-Luc Mélenchon, but that means breaking with a large part of the working classes and what made the left strong “, she continued. “It was Jean-Luc Mélenchon who allowed the French left to raise its head and who achieved the best score for the left in recent years”she explained. “We are not condemned to suffer from the extreme right or the Macronists”she added. “When the left does not betray, it can stay in power,” she elaborated in a barely veiled allusion to the Socialist Party.
In various polls, the list of Jordan Bardella (RN) comes out on top, credited with around 30% of voting intentions on June 9, ahead of the majority camp, led by Valérie Hayer around 18%. Raphaël Glucksmann takes the lead on the left (12%), ahead of Manon Aubry with 7% voting intentions, tied with Marie Toussaint’s EELV list.
