Manitoba | Man arrested after deaths of two women and three children

(Winnipeg) Manitoba RCMP say they are holding a 29-year-old man in connection with the deaths of two women and three children.

During a press conference, Inspector Tim Arseneault of the RCMP Major Crimes Unit indicated on Sunday that the suspect knew the five victims, but the police officer did not specify the links that the individual had with them .

The victims were found in three different locations, added Mr. Arseneault.

Officers responded to the first scene around 7:30 a.m. where a woman’s body was discovered in a ditch near Highway 3, outside the town of Carman, more than 50 miles southwest from Winnipeg.

At 10 a.m., police say a witness removed the bodies of three children from a burning car on Route 248.

Shortly afterward, police discovered the body of another woman at a residence in Carman.
