Manhunt in La Doré | The suspect will appear on Saturday afternoon

(La Doré) The possibly armed man who was traveling on foot and who caused a stir, near La Doré, in Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean, on Saturday afternoon, will have to face justice.

The individual was finally located and arrested by the police in Lac Élaine, around 5:45 p.m. Saturday, still in the MRC of Domaine-du-Roy.

“He was met by the investigators. He is a 53-year-old man from Longueuil. He should appear by video appearance during the afternoon, ”said Sergeant Hélène St-Pierre, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), in an interview on Sunday.

The manhunt began after a call about another individual with gunshot wounds hours earlier.

According to initial information, the victim, a man in his forties, was hit by at least one projectile from a firearm on Chemin de la Branche-Ouest, around 11 a.m. on Saturday, in circumstances that did not have been specified.

“The victim was taken to a hospital. She had significant injuries. We knew this morning (Sunday) that he is a man in his forties from the region. He is still in hospital in a condition deemed critical, but stable,” said Sergeant St-Pierre.

The suspect had fled the scene before the police arrived and an “imminent threat alert” from the SQ was posted on its official Twitter account to advise citizens of the areas concerned to be careful.

It was then evoked the possibility that the suspect is in possession of a long weapon.

The alert was finally lifted in the evening.

“We thank the citizens who were targeted by the alert for their collaboration,” said another tweet from the SQ.

The case has been transferred to SQ major crime investigators. Forensic identification technicians were also called to the scene of the attack.

The investigation is continuing.
