Måneskin singer Damiano David releases first solo track

(Rome) Damiano David, singer of the Italian group Måneskin which won Eurovision 2021, released his first solo track on Friday, sparking concerns among fans about the survival of the quartet.

Available on several platforms, Silverlines is the result of the singer’s collaboration with American artists Sarah Hudson and Ferras, and British rapper and producer Labrinth.

Damiano David, whose performances on stage and the festive nights with bassist Victoria De Angelis have nourished the group’s sulphurous reputation, seems to confide in this melancholy title that he has entered a calmer period of his life.

“I don’t feel sad anymore/The calm after the storm/The peace is mine,” he sings.

“This song is very special for me,” he explained Friday in the columns of the Italian daily La Stampa. “I naturally chose it as the start of this new chapter in my artistic life and I sincerely hope that people are ready to take this journey with me,” he added.

He assured during the MTV Video Music Awards in New York on September 11 that this solo project, a prelude to an album, was only a parenthesis and that Måneskin would continue to live.

“One thing is certain, the group will continue to make records together, we get along very well, and my solo record will not put an end to our activity as a group,” he said.

Måneskin won the Eurovision contest in 2021 and its singer is the best-known member with more than five million followers on Instagram.

The other three members also participate in solo projects. Victoria De Angelis notably played in a Duran Duran song, Thomas Raggi, the guitarist, participated in concerts with other artists and Ethan Torchio, on drums, composed the music for a documentary, according to La Stampa.
