The verdict is getting closer. Tuesday December 12 and Wednesday December 13 is the sixth and final day of the group stage of the Champions League. Between last hopes of qualification for some and duels to be group leader for others, suspense is present on all levels. Franceinfo: sport make the point.

Manchester United needs a miracle

Three-time winner of the competition, Manchester United are dead last in Group A with just one win in five matches. Facing Bayern Munich on Tuesday (9 p.m.), the Red Devils are playing for their future, and the mission promises to be tough. If Bayern, already qualified and assured of first place in the group, lost heavily 5-1 against Frankfurt in the Bundesliga on Saturday, Erik ten Hag’s players are in even more difficulty.

Sixth in the Premier League, they lost 3-0 at Old Trafford, against the modest Bournemouth team, on Saturday. In addition to beating Bayern, a team undefeated in the group stage for six years, Manchester United will have to hope for a draw between Copenhagen and Galatasaray to qualify. Suffice it to say, a little miracle…

Paris Saint-Germain master of its destiny

In group F, nothing is done for PSG, but Luis Enrique’s players can be satisfied with having their destiny in their hands. Thanks to their draw against Newcastle (1-1) at the end of November, the Parisians are guaranteed to finish in one of the first three places in their group. The issue is therefore whether they will play in the round of 16 of the Champions League or the Europa League, and several scenarios are possible.

In the event of a victory against Dortmund, current group leader with 10 points and already qualified, on Wednesday (9 p.m.), Kylian Mbappé and his teammates will take first place. For any result other than a success, the Parisians will have to take out the calculator and monitor the opposition between Newcastle and AC Milan in order to know which European Cup they will play after the end of year holidays.

Naples in favorable waiver

The fate of Napoli is also not yet sealed. Second in Group C behind Real Madrid, qualified for the next round, Walter Mazzarri’s players face their direct opponent, Braga, for second place in their group, Tuesday at 9 p.m. With three points ahead of the Portuguese, the Neapolitans – quarter-finalists last season – are still in a good position to continue their adventure in C1. A draw at home is enough for them to qualify.

Europa League objective for Lens

Already eliminated from the Champions League after its heavy defeat against Arsenal, 6-0, on the fifth day, RC Lens can still hope to qualify for the Europa League. To do this, Franck Haise’s team will have to stay in third place in their group by, at a minimum, a draw against Sevilla on Tuesday (6:45 p.m.) at home. Facing the Andalusians who, in all competitions, have not won since September 26, the Lensois will be favorites.

Two races for first place

The suspense is non-existent in groups D and E to know who will reach the round of 16 of the competition. On the other hand, the last match will reveal the winner of these groups. In Group D, Inter Milan and Real Sociedad both have 11 points and meet at San Siro on Tuesday (9 p.m.). At home, Inter, finalist of the last edition of the Champions League and leader of the Serie A, advances as favorite, but Real Sociedad, who remains on elimination in the group stage during the 2013 season- 2014 could create a surprise.

In Group D, Atlético de Madrid will have to be solid at home if they want to stay at the top of their group on Wednesday (9 p.m.). Antoine Griezmann’s teammates only have a small point lead over his runner-up and opponent, Lazio Rome. First place is at stake, to avoid an opponent who is too tough from the round of 16.
