The defending champion and big favorite for this edition of the Champions League has already secured his place in the round of 16 by winning his first four matches of the group stage. Manchester City accomplished their mission on Tuesday November 7. Bayern Munich followed the same pace, imitating the English club on Wednesday. The two big names are part of the six teams who have already validated their ticket for the knockout phase, alongside Real Madrid, Inter Milan, Real Sociedad and RB Leipzig.
Who says qualified, says eliminated. The fourth day of this first round sealed the fate of six teams. It’s the soup of grimaces for Benfica, Union Berlin, Salzburg, Young Boys Bern and Royal Antwerp.
Everything remains to be played for in the two groups of French clubs. After PSG’s defeat on Tuesday in Milan (1-2), the four residents of Group F are within just three points. Paris is currently second, a place which guarantees him qualification if he keeps it. The situation is less favorable for Lens, third, but tied on points with PSV just ahead in the direct confrontations following the defeat conceded to the Netherlands on Wednesday (0-1).
