man tried for triple homicide stabbed in prison

His life is not in danger but the trial is postponed sine die, taking into account his state of health.

One of the accused in the triple assassination of the Cité Bassens, in 2016 in Marseille, was stabbed at the Luynes penitentiary center on Sunday, the Aix-en-Provence prosecutor’s office confirmed to franceinfo on Monday February 26, after information from La Provence. He has been on trial before the Aix-en-Provence Assize Court since Monday February 19.

According to the first elements of the investigation, this 27-year-old man was severely beaten, including four with a bladed weapon, by five individuals in the exercise yard of the penitentiary center, a source close to the case told franceinfo. He was hospitalized, but his life is not in danger, specifies the prosecution. The flagrant investigation was entrusted to the flagrant organized crime division of the judicial police.

The trial of the triple assassination, which began on Monday February 19 before the Aix-en-Provence Assize Court, was postponed sine die following this attack, the state of health of the accused not being not compatible with his appearance, specifies the general prosecutor’s office.
