(Montreal) A man was found dead late Monday evening in a green space in the Plateau-Mont-Royal borough of Montreal, after apparently succumbing to injuries caused by a sharp object.
At the end of the night, Tuesday, the major crimes squad of the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) confirmed that the 42-year-old man had been the victim of a murder.
The presence of the lifeless body lying on the ground was reported around 10:45 p.m. by a person who called the 911 emergency telephone exchange.
The SPVM police officers then went to the Champ des Possibles, located between Henri-Julien and Gaspé streets, south of des Carrières street, in the Mile End sector. Resuscitation maneuvers were in vain.
Early Tuesday morning, the SPVM reported that no arrests had yet been made.
A security perimeter was erected at the scene to allow SPVM investigators and forensic identification technicians to try to establish the circumstances of what happened.
An SPVM mobile command post arrived on site at the end of the night; the analysis of the scene was to begin at daybreak.
It was the fifteenth homicide to occur since the beginning of the year on the territory patrolled by the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal.
