A man was shot dead on the night of Wednesday to Thursday while he was returning home on his scooter, France Bleu RCFM reported on Thursday, July 11. The events took place in the Résidence des îles. According to a police source, this 49-year-old man was a chef in Ajaccio and known to the justice system. Recently released from prison, he was wearing an electronic bracelet.
According to information from France Bleu RCFM, two hooded and armed men set up an ambush. About ten shots were then heard by a witness, mainly injuring the victim in the back and upper body. The two suspects then fled by car.
Emergency services, alerted around 11:20 p.m., were unable to resuscitate the victim. About ten minutes later, firefighters were called a kilometer from the crime scene to control the fire in an abandoned car near the marine cemetery. A weapon was found inside the vehicle, France Bleu RCFM learned from a source close to the case.
