A man was found with a serious injury apparently caused by a stabbing early Wednesday night in a building in downtown Montreal.
The Service de police de la Ville de Montreal (SPVM) reported that the 26-year-old man was in critical condition when he was taken to hospital.
In an update drawn up at the end of the night, the medical authorities confirmed to the SPVM that the life of the victim was no longer in danger.
The police say that around midnight 25, they were alerted by a call to the 911 emergency telephone exchange of the presence of the injured man in a building on rue Charlotte located near the intersection of rue de Bullion.
Upon arrival, officers found the victim had a significant upper body injury, likely caused by a sharp object. Transport to the hospital was provided by paramedics.
In the meantime, a security perimeter has been erected so that SPVM investigators can comb through the scene and solve this case. By daybreak, no arrests had been reported.
