A man is between life and death following a fight that broke out on Thursday evening at the Bayonne festival, the Bayonne prosecutor’s office announced to AFP on Friday, July 12. The man was taken to hospital, where his condition deteriorated, putting his life in danger, according to the prosecutor’s office. A suspect was arrested on Friday morning and taken into custody, according to the prosecutor. An investigation has been opened for attempted murder, entrusted to the judicial police.
The Bayonne prosecutor will hold a press conference on Saturday to review the events. The City of Bayonne “strongly condemns such a tragedy” And “relies fully on the competent authorities to establish and qualify the facts as well as the follow-up to be given”while reaffirming “his desire and commitment to peaceful and respectful celebrations”.
