A man linked to the events leading to the death of Tupac Shakur in 1996 was charged with murder Friday in Las Vegas. Duane “Keffe D” Davis himself admitted in a book and in an interview to having been present during the assassination of the New York rapper.
A grand jury indicted Davis for murder with use of a deadly weapon and with intent to promote, aid or assist a criminal organization.
Duane Davis published a memoir in 2019, Compton Street Legend, in which he admitted to having been in the passenger seat of the Cadillac where the four shots that killed Tupac came from, 27 years ago .
He said he was one of the last witnesses to the rapper’s death and said he spoke to the police about the events in 2010, while he was in prison and facing a life sentence.
A few months ago, police searched Davis’ wife’s home for evidence relating to the rapper’s murder. Friday morning, authorities arrested Duane Davis, a former gang leader.
Tupac Shakur was shot and killed on the Las Vegas Strip in 1996, when he was just 25 years old. Despite his young age, the artist had already become a part of hip-hop legend, being considered one of the greatest rappers of all time. The investigation into his murder has never been resolved.
