Shortly before 5 p.m. on Monday, the Laval Police Service (SPL) was called to intervene in connection with a shoplifting in a business located on Robert-Bourassa Boulevard.

The BEI explains that on the spot, the police would have identified a suspicious vehicle, with the help of a security guard, and that it would have fled.

A pursuit was initiated, but it would have finally been abandoned, since the agents preferred to follow the suspect vehicle from a distance.

Despite everything, “the suspect vehicle was allegedly involved in a collision with another vehicle, in the sector of boulevard des Laurentides and rue de Grenoble”, indicates the BEI.

The driver of the suspect vehicle was reportedly seriously injured and was taken to hospital, where his condition was considered stable.

Five BEI investigators were tasked with investigating the circumstances of this event, while the parallel investigation was entrusted to the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).

The BEI investigates each time a person sustains a serious injury during a police intervention.
