The man who was shot and injured Saturday night outside a building in the Tétreaultville area of Montreal was on hand to make a purchase after responding to an ad on Kijiji. He would rather have been attacked by at least one armed individual, who would have tried to rob him.

According to our information, the man in his twenties had gone to the address of the borough of Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve around 7 p.m. to buy a phone sold on the internet via the Kijiji platform.
When he introduced himself to the occupant of the accommodation in question, the latter claimed not to have made any announcement of sale.
The 26-year-old was about to leave the scene when one or more suspects brutally attacked him to take his phone and his money. The victim resisted his assailants. One of them then shot him, then fled, say police sources not authorized to speak to the media.
“This is one of the hypotheses concerning this case, but the investigation is still ongoing so nothing is confirmed,” said Jean-Pierre Brabant, spokesperson for the Montreal Police Service. (SPVM).
As for the victim, a man without history, he is out of danger despite serious injuries, specifies the publicist. The SPVM did not make any arrests related to this event.
A security perimeter was erected to allow investigators to establish the causes and circumstances.
