The 26-year-old was charged with murder during a videoconference appearance at the Montreal courthouse on Monday. He is currently still being held in the capital of Nova Scotia, the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) said in a statement Monday.
On October 29, Terell Jacobs and his victim, a 24-year-old man, met at Place Henri-Dunant, a small park surrounded by residential towers west of downtown Montreal. They then went, along with two other people, to a nearby alley.
At approximately 7:50 p.m., the victim was found stabbed in the chest and dying. His death was pronounced a few hours later at the Montreal General Hospital. It was the 27and homicide in the Quebec metropolis in 2021.
Investigators from the SPVM’s Major Crimes Section had issued a Canada-wide arrest warrant for Terell Jacobs. Last Friday evening, in cooperation with the Halifax Regional Police Service, he was arrested at his home in Halifax, which was also searched.
