The truck tractor (i.e. the heavy truck, but without its trailer) stolen was spotted around 2 p.m. Sunday afternoon on the metropolitan highway, in the west of the island of Montreal. The driver first pretended to stop after being intercepted by the patrol officer of the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM). After coming to a standstill, it immediately sets off again. The patroller loses sight of him.

The SPVM sets in motion a search to find the stolen truck and its driver. They are located a little further west, still on Highway 40.

A chase ensues, worthy of an action movie. The patrol officers tried numerous times to intercept the truck. The driver of the stolen vehicle even goes so far as to make dangerous maneuvers, such as hitting police vehicles, to get out of business.

It was finally in the Beaconsfield area that the truck finally came to a stop. “Man in his 50s could face charges of receiving more than $5,000, dangerous driving, assault with a weapon [parce qu’il a heurté volontairement les voitures de police avec son véhicule] and flight,” says Marythé Bolduc, communications sergeant for the Sûreté du Québec.

No one was injured in this extraordinary pursuit.
