The Republican candidate for the American presidential election is “safe and sound” after shots “near him”immediately wanted to reassure his team on Sunday, September 15. We do not yet know what the former tenant of the White House escaped, but the Martin County police announced on their Facebook page that they had arrested a man suspected of being involved in an exchange of gunfire near the Republican billionaire’s golf club in Florida. “A suspect was seen near the trail that Trump is known to use. The Secret Service said the suspect appeared to be aiming his weapon and agents fired shots. The suspect fled, but was later captured and the weapon was recovered.”, assures a police officer to the chain ABC.

The former president was at his golf club in Florida, according to several media outlets, including CNN. The incident occurred shortly before 2 p.m. (8 p.m. Paris time), said a spokesperson for the Secret Service, the unit responsible for protecting senior American political figures. Donald Trump gave an update in a fundraising email: I am safe and healthy! (…) I will NEVER surrender! I will always love you for your support.” Donald Trump’s presidential rival, Kamala Harris, said in a tweet that “Violence has no place in America.”

The incident comes two months after the assassination attempt on the septuagenarian, who is campaigning to regain the White House in November’s election. On July 13, he was injured in the ear by gunfire that killed one person and injured two others at a rally in Pennsylvania. The security fiasco led to the resignation of the head of the Secret Service and the compulsory leave of at least five agents in the unit.
