A man and his partner were attacked on the night of Friday 6 to Saturday 7 December in Paris, franceinfo learned from the Paris prosecutor’s office. One of them was seriously injured, but his life was not in danger. Four people suspected of having participated in this attack are currently in police custody.
An investigation on the grounds of “intentional violence resulting in total incapacity for work for more than 8 days committed in a group with a weapon and due to the sexual orientation of the victims” was entrusted to the police station of the 10th arrondissement, the prosecution said.
Attacks on LGBT+ people increased by 13% in 2023 in France compared to 2022, with even a jump of 19% for crimes and offences recorded by the police and the gendarmerie, according to a study by the statistical service of the Ministry of the Interior.
