“You have to know how to leave the table when respect is no longer served”. It is with these words that Mamadou Sakho begins a press release, published Thursday November 2 on his X account (formerly Twitter), in which he announces “end (its) collaboration with the Montpellier Hérault Sport Club” (MHSC). The 33-year-old central defender had a clash with his coach, Michel Der Zakarian, after training on October 24, requiring the intervention of several players to separate them.
For its part, the MHSC adopted calm communication, speaking of “media frenzy” and using quotation marks to talk about clashes. “At the end of ten days of reflection, the parties have, in good faith, agreed to put an end to the contractual relationship between them”wrote the current 11th in Ligue 1, who faces PSG on Friday.
According to witnesses, contacted by France Bleu Hérault, the 33-year-old player then grabbed and sent his trainer to the ground. Since the return of Michel Der Zakarian to the club in February 2022, Mamadou Sakho had only taken part in five championship matches and had only played six minutes of play in Ligue 1 this season.
