The Star Academy kicked off on November 4. Among the many changes observed, the replacement of dance teacher Yanis Marshall by Malika Benjelloun. Like her predecessor, the young woman is known in the dance world since she has worked with great artists like Robbie Williams, Billy Crawford and Puff Daddy. This Monday, November 20, 2023, the choreographer entrusted in the columns of 7 Days TV : “Each teacher has their signature. I simply came with the desire to do a good job. But I admit that it is quite a challenge and an honor to arrive after these two dance monsters, especially since I am the first woman in this position since the creation of the show” she said kindly. While it was revealed that Yanis Marshall was ousted because of his alcohol problems, Malika Benjelloun assures that there is no awkwardness between them. “Yanis Marshall was very classy and sent me a nice message to congratulate me and give me his blessing” she revealed.
As a reminder, Yanis Marshall had settled accounts with the channel making shocking revelations. “During the third prime time, I broke down. For once, I didn’t have rehearsals scheduled on Saturday, so I threw a dinner and celebrated… A little too much, to be honest. The next day, I was totally hungover and everyone was a little worried. I put on some Dior glasses and went on set. And, in the end, I did my best performance.”.
And added: “They said to me, ‘Have you been to rehab?’ They wanted to prove to TF1 that things were going well. However, I didn’t need it and I was able to last the three months. I had turned down projects to be ready. But during a second meeting, I was told: ‘That’s not going to do it, TF1 has made its decision’. I was told they couldn’t risk taking me back.“
