It is a childhood dream that Malik Bentalha realized. At 33, he co-directed – with Ludovic Colbeau-Justin – an adventure comedy that pays tribute to the films that rocked his childhood, such as IndianaJones and the Goonies : the feature film Jack Mimoun and the Secrets of Val Verde which comes out this Wednesday, October 12 at the cinema. A beautiful path traveled by this native of Bagnols-sur-Cèze in the Gard who became known to the general public thanks to the Jamel Comedy Club. Before becoming this dashing thirty-something, the young man went through many stages, including a physical transformation.
In interview for TV Star in 2020, Malik Bentalha had confided in his body and more specifically his poor lifestyle that he managed to throw into oblivion. “Since September, I must have lost 35 kilos thanks to sport. I run, I am a hamster. I’m excessive and relentless“, initially explained the comedian. “I felt uneasy when I arrived on stage. I’ve always had weight issues since I was little. I don’t drink, I don’t smoke, I don’t do drugs. My drug, on the other hand, has always been food and I manage badly. I am a popcorn. As soon as I’m not well, I eat“, he added.
A defect which is not the only fact of a lack of rigor but which is also explained by his rhythm of life, as he had told the same year on the airwaves of RTL: “Especially since we usually leave the stage at 11 p.m., we’re hungry and it’s the worst time to be able to go to dinner. At 11:30 p.m., it’s hellish. We sleep badly, we do not digest. There, I want to be careful out of respect for the public and then even afterwards, when we see each other on TV, we say to ourselves: ‘No, but wait, is that me?’ This is where you realize the gravity.”
Two years later, Malik Bentalha has a slightly more square silhouette than the one we saw in 2020, which suits his character as an adventurous adventurer – but not too much!
