Armenia won Sunday at the Seine Musicale in Boulogne-Billancourt the Eurovision Junior competition, child version of the telecrochet, thanks to the performance of the singer Maléna, 14, and her song Qami Qami.
Nineteen countries competed for this 19th edition, in a competition reserved for singers from 9 to 14 years old. It was organized for the first time in France, after the victory in 2020 of Valentina, with the title I imagine, that she came to perform on the stage of this 2021 edition.
Maléna edged Poland’s candidates Sara James, 13, who performed Somebody and France. The tricolor representative was Enzo, 13, with his song Tic Tac.
The victory of the Armenian representative was achieved thanks to the online public vote, which brought together more than 4.3 million Internet users from nearly 200 countries, according to the organizers. Because after the votes of the national juries, it was the French candidate who was in the lead, ahead of Poland and Armenia. But everything changed with the votes of viewers who overturned the podium to finally consecrate the 14-year-old Armenian.
