Makeshift shelter (for end of the world), Koriass

Koriass begins its sixth album with force. The song makeshift shelter will even be the most refreshing of the album, its rough production, influenced by the trend drill, even inspiring the MC to make his prosody, renowned for its almost rigid precision, more flexible. We would have taken more songs of that caliber — and that of just do it, good text! — on this disc, which, in its production, its themes (those of addiction and the feeling of not knowing how to prevent oneself from wasting one’s life) and its outstretched hand towards pop song (Clothesline attempts to replicate the success of Five to seven), looks too much like The night of the long knives (2018). Fortunately, the many collaborations are all successful and remain in our minds. Jay Scøtt shines on the excellent matusalemwith its Motown-style orchestration instrumentation vintage that suited Amy Winehouse so well. Mike Clay makes the funk-house flow on Village of ValuesSarahmée and Souldia give weight to Epitaph and the veteran Imposs still delivers a passionate verse on Special effects.
