At the helm of the First ADISQ Gala for a third year, Pierre Lapointe has decided to put forward new generation artists who had fewer opportunities to shine during the pandemic.
Some artists have launched a first album in their career and have not been able to have a visibility similar to the one they would have had before the arrival of COVID. To shed some light on them, Pierre Lapointe asked Ariane Moffatt and Louis-Jean Cormier to sponsor their “darlings”.
Lapointe chose Ariane Roy and LUMIÈRE. Ariane Moffatt turned to Robert Robert. Louis-Jean Cormier has chosen to support Gab Bouchard. All will take the stage together to do the opening number of the Premier Gala.
“It shows that we are really a family and that even though we’ve been here for a while [Pierre, Ariane et Louis-Jean], we know what’s coming, ”says Pierre Lapointe.
The latter has decided to put the spotlight on Ariane Roy and LUMIÈRE, because he really appreciates these two artists.
“Ariane Roy is young and she already has solid writing skills,” he says. It is quite surprising and astonishing. I also saw her sing live and she is truly a traditional musician. “
” LIGHT [Étienne Côté de son vrai nom], when I saw his first clip, I fell on my butt a bit, says Pierre. He has a great look. He released a very well-written kind of concept album. I also saw him in a show at the Francos. He is more than solid. “
The pleasure of discovering
To see young artists like them come out with interesting projects inspires Pierre Lapointe. “I have always had this kind of pleasure to discover new worlds and to work with them, says the one who was one of the coaches of The voice for three seasons. I find it rather reassuring [de les voir]. The more everyone makes good records, the better it is for all creators in Quebec. “
This year is a record year for first appointments to ADISQ. Indeed, no less than 40 artists received their very first mention at one or other of the three galas. “It’s in line with what’s going on right now,” says Pierre Lapointe. There are a lot of people who are starting to show up. “
Once again this year, Pierre Lapointe pre-recorded much of the gala a few weeks ago. ” Wednesday [ce soir], I’ll be sitting in a bar with the production gang and watching the show that’s going to be on TV, he says. I don’t know anything about the winners. I will discover them at the same time as everyone else. All nominated artists were asked to give thanks as if they won. “
Even if he enjoys this role of host, Pierre Lapointe does not see himself replacing Louis-José Houde when the latter leaves his post at the Sunday gala. “Louis-José, I think he’s going to be here for another 15 years! [rires]. It’s perfect because he’s really, really good in that role. “
- ADISQ’s Premier Gala, hosted by Pierre Lapointe, will be broadcast Wednesday evening at 8 p.m. on Télé-Québec.
