The City of Montreal lifted the preventive boil water advisory it had issued in certain boroughs on Saturday evening following a major water leak last Friday.
The advisory in effect in the boroughs of Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve and Rivière-des-Prairies–Pointe-aux-Trembles, as well as in Montreal East, was lifted around 8:30 p.m.
On its website, the City of Montreal recommends that citizens affected by the notice run their faucets for a few minutes before using them, and wash their coffee machines and ice machines.
The City also recommends changing filters in water treatment or filtration systems, such as pitchers or refrigerators with water dispensers. However, it is not necessary to empty the hot water tank.
