Major closures of the Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine tunnel will take place on weekends in July to carry out various maintenance, inspection and roadway work.
This was indicated by the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility in a press release on Tuesday.
Here are the obstacles that are already scheduled for the weekend of July 7:
Highway 25 towards the South Shore
• Complete closure of Highway 25 towards the South Shore (including the Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine tunnel) between exit 4 – Montréal (downtown) / J.-Cartier Bridge and the entrance to from Île Charron, Friday night to Saturday from 11 p.m. to 8 a.m.;
• Complete closure of Highway 25 towards the South Shore (including the Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine tunnel) between exit 5 – R-138 / Rue Hochelaga / Rue Sherbrooke and the entrance from the île Charron, on the night of Saturday to Sunday from 11 p.m. to 9 a.m.
• The entrances to these sections will be closed 30 minutes before the complete closure of the motorway.
Highway 25 towards Montreal
• Complete closure of Highway 25 toward Montreal (including the Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine tunnel) between exit 90 – Aut. 20 west, route 132, La Prairie / USA, Varennes, P.-E.-Trudeau airport from highway 20 and the entrance from rue Notre-Dame Est, according to the following schedule:
o Night from Friday to Saturday from 11 p.m. to 8 a.m.
o Night from Saturday to Sunday from 11 p.m. to 9 a.m.
• The entrances to this section will be closed 30 minutes before the complete closure of the motorway.
For the following weekend, July 14, the road will be closed towards the South Shore at all times, to which are added night closures towards Montreal.
A closure in the direction of Montreal is scheduled at all times for the weekend of July 21, to which are added night closures in the direction of the South Shore.
Details of the closures will be confirmed at the start of each week, the ministry said.
