Many Meta social media users lost access to their accounts Tuesday morning. Testimonies poured in on the X network as well as on the outage monitoring site Downdetector.
The major outage hit several of the group’s networks: Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, Whatsapp and Threads were affected, according to user reports.
According to information available on the Downdetector site, the outage began around 10:30 a.m. An hour later, the reports had greatly decreased.
The cause of the problem is not yet known, but Meta spokesperson Andy Stone told X that the company’s teams were working to resolve the situation. “We are aware that people have difficulty accessing our services,” he wrote. We are currently working on it.”
We’re aware people are having trouble accessing our services. We are working on this now.
