(San Diego) Quebec’s Édouard Julien had four hits and scored three runs in an 11-4 victory for the Minnesota Twins over the San Diego Padres on Wednesday.
After striking out in the second inning, Julien singled in the fourth, scoring one of his team’s seven runs in the inning. He also singled in the next inning.
The 25-year-old added another single in the sixth without scoring, then hit a double in the ninth before Manuel Margot allowed him to score the 11th.e and his last point a few moments later.
This is the second time Julien has hit the ball four times in a game in major league baseball. On August 16, 2023, against the Detroit Tigers, he had four hits in five at-bats in an 8-7 loss.
His batting average climbed to .219 this season.
A three-run homer by Matt Wallner gave the visitors an eight-run lead in the fourth inning. Austin Martin drove in three runs with two doubles in the game.
The victory went to Simeon Woods Richardson (5-3), who allowed just one run, three hits and two walks in five innings of work.
The win also saved the Twins from a three-game series sweep. It was the first win in four games for the Minneapolis team.
Matt Waldron (7-11) had a very rough outing on the mound, allowing 10 runs, 12 hits and a free pass in four and a third innings.
