(Minneapolis) Quebec second baseman Édouard Julien was recalled by the Minnesota Twins, who placed star shortstop Carlos Correa on the injured list (right foot).
A Quebec athlete, Julien began the campaign with the Twins before being assigned to St. Paul in AAA on June 3.
In 35 games with the Saints, he hit .233 with five home runs, two doubles, a triple, 11 RBIs and 23 runs scored.
From March 28 to June 2, Julien hit .207 with the Twins. In 58 games, he had seven home runs, six doubles, six stolen bases and 17 RBIs.
Julien, 25, had a solid MLB performance in 2023. He hit .263 with 16 home runs, 37 RBIs and 60 runs scored in 109 games.
He’s ninth among hitters heading into Saturday night’s game at Target Field against the Milwaukee Brewers.
Correa will be treated for plantar fasciitis; he was left out of the All-Star Game for that reason. He will wear a protective boot for a few days, manager Rocco Baldelli said.
Correa is hitting .308 in 75 games in 2024, with 13 homers and 47 RBIs.
Chris Paddack was also added to the Twins’ injured list due to a forearm strain.
In 17 starts, the right-hander was 5-3 with a 4.99 ERA.
