(Paris) A major fire of still unknown origin broke out on Wednesday in a building in the center of Paris, part of which collapsed, injuring at least one person, according to concordant sources and AFP images.
“A fire is in progress rue Saint-Jacques, in the 5e district of Paris. The Paris firefighters intervene. Please do not interfere with their intervention and avoid the sector,” French Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin tweeted.

According to the Paris public prosecutor’s office, “a building caught fire and partially collapsed” rue Saint-Jacques, a few streets from the Panthéon and the Luxembourg Gardens, and a first provisional assessment reports “an injured person burned” .
“There is nothing to determine the origin of the disaster” at this stage, said the prosecution.
