Emergency services were called to intervene around 10:45 a.m. on the westbound expressway, near the municipality of Saint-Zotique.
According to the first information released by the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), the driver of a truck struck at least one sport utility vehicle (SUV).
The individual “would not have been able to stop in time in the face of the slowdown in traffic”, advance the provincial police. She specifies that very early Sunday, around 4:30 a.m., a tanker had left the road in the same area, on Highway 20, causing congestion.
Thus, the occupants of the SUV, two adults aged in their forties and three children, were plunged into a critical condition, then transported to a hospital center. According to our information, the victims would be part of the same family.

The SQ was unable to provide the Log more details on their state of health at the end of the afternoon, Sunday.
It was also too early to determine whether criminal elements were considered at this time.
“Collision scene reconstructionists accompanied by an investigator will go to the scene to clarify the causes and circumstances surrounding this event. To this end, Highway 20 West is completely [fermées] from KM 6”, writes the SQ in a press release.
Remember that the 75 days separating Quebec’s national holiday and Labor Day are considered the deadliest on the roads by CAA-Quebec.
According to the annual report of the Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec, 116 people lost their lives in 2022 in accidents that occurred between June 24 and September 1, which represents one third of the deaths recorded throughout the year.
More details to come…
