Each state visit has its own banquet, and the visit of Felipe VI and his wife Letizia to Sweden is no exception! Arrived on November 23, 2021 in northern Europe, the King and Queen of Spain put on their fur coats for two days of travel, at the invitation of King Charles XVI Gustave and his wife Queen Silvia. After a busy first day of sightseeing, it’s time for the sumptuous gala dinner at the Royal Palace in Stockholm.
Letizia from Spain once again demonstrated sartorial diplomacy: Wednesday evening, the 49-year-old former journalist had swapped her fur-collar cape for an elegant blue evening dress with lots of volume … signed H&M ! Not only did this recycling expert have the delicacy of wearing an outfit from a Swedish brand, but she also limited her expenses by focusing on a dress from the Conscious line, both affordable and environmentally friendly. The mother of Princesses Leonor and Sofia (15 and 14 years old) did a faultless job! In her own country, Letizia does not hesitate to wear Zara clothes, both Spanish and accessible.
In terms of accessories, the Queen of Spain has emerged her magnificent Fleur-de-Lys diamond tiara. Also called La Buena, this precious jewel was a wedding gift from King Alfonso XIII to his wife Princess Victoria Eugenie, who became Queen Ena of Spain, at their wedding in 1906. This tiara has been carefully handed down from generation to generation. After being worn by Queen Sofia, until the abdication of her husband Juan Carlos I in 2014, it now comes out of its box on rare occasions to sublimate the port of Letizia’s head.
Around the Spanish sovereign couple, the Swedish royal family were also on their thirty-one. Queen Silvia looked elegant in her golden gown, complete with her cameo tiara. For her part, on the arm of her husband Prince Daniel, Crown Princess Victoria had brought out her floral dress from the Swedish brand Frida Jonsvens and her aquamarine tiara (see slideshow). Finally, alongside her husband Prince Carl Philip, Princess Sofia had opted for a brand new close-fitting white dress signed Safiyaa (one of Meghan Markle’s favorite brands!). The young mother wore the Palmette tiara in diamonds and pearls.
