Shooting with the sacred monsters of French and international cinema… a dream for many, but a fear for others. Indeed, collaborating with Leonardo DiCaprio, Gérard Depardieu, Vincent Cassel, Catherine Deneuve, or even Meryl Streep, has something to dream about but can also put a lot of pressure. In particular because of the state of mind of these stars, which a director can sometimes have trouble managing. Maïwenn can testify to this. The 47-year-old artist who has just collaborated with Johnny Depp for the filming of the film “Jeanne du Barry”.
In an interview given to Gala this Thursday, May 18, the one who assumes her aggression towards Edwy Plenel has recognized that her collaboration with the ex of Amber Heard has not been easy. She also returned to “complex management” of the filming of “Jeanne du Barry” but above all wanted to talk about his past collaborations. In particular with Vincent Cassel, during the filming of “My king” released in 2015.

Vincent Cassel and Maïwenn, a difficult collaboration?
If she has good memories of it, Maïwenn recognizes that there were some difficult moments to manage. “Geniuses are like that. And I met some: Fanny Ardant, Vincent Cassel… It’s not easy every day, we’re not going to lie to each other”. Despite this complex side, she ensures that what they “deliver in front of a camera is a blessing for a director”. “They don’t know fear and that’s what produces their charisma”continues the director, admiring these “geniuses”.
The one who has just collaborated with Johnny Depp also ensures that an actor who is afraid, “it shows right away” and “everything can ring false”. But that never happened with Vanessa Paradis’ ex: “With Johnny Depp, there wasn’t a single scene to throw away. He followed my directions and then always gave me another option. I just had to choose”. If there are difficult moments to manage, Maïwenn seems to apprehend them to perfection and show authority during her filming.
