Maisonneuve-Rosemont Hospital | Ambulances diverted due to broken ER water pipe

A water main break late Friday afternoon in the emergency room of the Maisonneuve-Rosemont hospital forced the closure of part of the emergency room, the displacement of patients and the diversion of ambulances .


A total of 20 patients have been moved inside the hospital due to the water damage, AFP reported. The Press Christian Merciari, the hospital’s spokesman.

The breach in the water pipe was sealed in the evening. The emergency should resume its activities by the end of the evening or night, assured Mr. Merciari.

In the meantime, ambulances have been diverted from the hospital. In the middle of the evening, the vacancy rate for this emergency room was 57% according to the Health Index dashboard, well below normal.

The causes that led to the breakage of the pipe are not yet known.
