Maison Chevalier: Nathalie Roy is selling off heritage, according to Agnès Maltais

Culture Minister Nathalie Roy must back down and prevent the sale of Maison Chevalier to a subsidiary of the group that owns Ameublement Tanguay, opponents of the transaction claimed Monday.

The former PQ Minister of Culture Agnès Maltais invited Ms. Roy to take inspiration from her colleague in Health, Christian Dubé, who last week waived the schedule to impose compulsory vaccination in the network of the health.

“I have the impression that I am passing a small one quickly”, declared Ms. Maltais during a press conference in front of the heritage building located in Old Quebec.

According to Ms. Maltais, who represented the riding of Taschereau where Maison Chevalier is located, Ms. Roy must use her power to prevent the Musée de la civilization du Québec from selling this asset that she owns.

“She must do it with honor as the Minister of Health Dubé backed down because he was going into a wall,” she said. It is sinking into a wall and it is selling off our heritage. “

Local city councilor and mayoral candidate, Jean Rousseau, also called on the government to back down.

“It is unacceptable that everything was done on the sly and that we do not know the ins and outs of this transaction,” said Mr. Rousseau during the press conference.

Gestion 1608, a real estate subsidiary of the group that owns Ameublement Tanguay, must also give up the acquisition of Maison Chevalier.

“Groupe Tanguay is a model corporate citizen in the Quebec City region, why would it tarnish its reputation by acquiring this extraordinary building,” said Mr. Rousseau.
